From a gameplay perspective, in general, Capcom's beat 'em ups rip Konami's a new one. I caught notice of the AvP thread, which then went on to be AvP vs. release on that console that might have a chance at hanging with SoR2. He gave Final Fight 2 an honorable mention, without ever bringing up 3, which is the only U.S. All I can think is maybe non-beat 'em up fans shouldn't comment on the subject (vid was overall SNES recommendations anyway). topic, but I saw a vid state that Turtles in Time was the best beat 'em up of that era. Not trying to make this yet another console vs. So I saw a vid of Gsaurus and Bestwon1 playing Streets of Rage 2 on mania, and watching 6 enemies consistently stream in, to fight 2 playable characters, without a trace of slowdown, it hit me, as I'd been slowly discovering over the last few years, this game bends the competition over a barrel.and it isn't sending flowers! I mean, when a game is so good that people want to learn the ins and outs to get better at higher difficulties(they started with 1 life each, and ended with 9), let alone a difficulty that crazy, that should say all that it needs to. If you can't find it otherwise, it's at Streets of Rage Online(as well as a complete save file, which you'll need to tweak to your own preferences, in-game).The store is a downside? Jesus Christ, are you high? They gave it a week, which was plenty of time to spread it around.
Sega pulled the plug on it, and the update had to be leaked, but Sega wasn't exactly malicious about this. That said, if you're like me on this, you can find an already complete save file.
I haven't played the updated version of it yet, and it came out a long time back(actually haven't played anything for the PC in a long while). The thing is, you have to keep on beating the game to be able to afford the more expensive stuff, and only 1 route(the game has 4 starting areas, all with multiple paths throughout) really pays off. You have to be able to complete the game to make money(picking up gold bars and stuff throughout) to unlock stuff(about 6 extra characters, extra versions of playable characters, cheats, and other things), by buying it. The only down side, to me, is that it has a store, which feels too modern-ish. Out of the ones I list, my favorites are: Sengoku 3 - Available on Wii virtual console under Neo Geo Knights of the Round - (Also on SNES & Capcom Classics Collection Vol. Two Crude Dudes (aka Crude Buster) - Genesisĭ&D: Tower of Doom - Available with Shadow Over Mystara on XBL, PSN, Wii U & Steam (D&D: Chronicles of Mystara) Spider-Man & Venom: Separation Anxiety - Genesis & SNES - (Not everyone likes this as much as Maximum Carnage, but it is 2 players.) Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage - Genesis & SNES
Believe it or not, it's one of the best beat 'em ups to see the light of day in years.
